Harvester
A concept-stage collection platform designed to recover sargassum before it reaches the shore and supply suitable feedstock to Thalasso's local processing network.
— Currently in concept development
The problem
Climate change is taking its toll on our coastlines. Nations around the globe, from Puerto Rico to Barbados, are witnessing record amounts of sargassum choking their shores. These invasive blooms devastate wildlife, threaten tourism, and even affect the health of locals.

The solution
The Ocean Harvester is being developed to collect sargassum offshore before it reaches the beach and decomposes. Its strategic role is to help secure suitable biomass as feedstock for local biorefining — connecting collection with extraction, ingredients and industrial markets.
Its role in the Thalasso model
The Harvester supports a larger processing-led system. Collected sargassum is intended to move into Thalasso's modular Micro-Biorefinery, where the biomass can be separated into valuable fractions including the platform's intended principal product lines: fucoidan, alginate and biostimulants.
Explore the Micro-Biorefinery →01
Electric propulsion using proven aquatic technology — harmless to marine life and quiet in operation.
02
Purpose-built for rough water conditions where most surface harvesters struggle.
03
Unmanned operation, remotely controllable from the beach or from anywhere in the world.
04
Designed for scalability, so a fleet can take on the capacity a region actually needs.

For whom
Part of our practical, community-led approach — offered to the organizations that live with sargassum every season.
Available harvesting solution
Thalasso works with Máquinacero to offer a purpose-built vessel for collecting floating sargassum directly from the water, helping intercept biomass before it reaches beaches, marinas and coastal infrastructure.
The vessel can operate as a standalone collection solution or as part of a wider Thalasso sargassum management and processing system.
